Hi! I’m Rameen Kamran and I’m finishing up my fourth and final year at Toronto Metropolitan University for the program Professional Communication. I am currently working as a project management intern at the Innovation Boost Zone here at school, and I’m excited to graduate to venture more into the PM field. Creating this project has been so exciting because I got to delve into intricacies of food from around the world, and how it effects us. Communicating the information I found to an audience has truly been an amazing learning curve for me!

This project looks at how people perceive food quality in North America compared to Europe and Asia, and how those perceptions affect how they feel after eating. By analyzing online discussions alongside academic research, it finds that many people see North American food as more processed, less fresh, and served in larger portions, while food in Europe and Asia is often described as more seasonal, locally sourced, and flavourful. These perceptions are tied to how people feel physically and mentally, many report feeling more bloated or sluggish in North America, and lighter or more energized abroad. However, the project also shows that these differences aren’t just about the food itself, but are shaped by bigger factors like food regulations, supply chains, and lifestyle habits such as walking more or eating slower. Overall, it suggests that food quality is not just about what we eat, but how and where we eat it.
