Biography

Danillo Onetto is a fourth year Professional Communications student. His academic interests lie in the intersection of communication and politics, emphasizing how technology may be used to improve social and political processes. This has translated to his professional work, as he has been employed as a research assistant at TMU for over two years. He plans to continue this passion in graduate school, while studying public policy.

Research Summary

This project examines the relationships between technological advancements and capacity for deliberative democracy. It examines case studies of three democratic systems, including participatory budgeting, e-voting, and blockchain democracy. This is coupled with social media content analysis that displays public opinion on the effectiveness of each technology.
