Dylan is a third-year Professional Communication student with a strong interest in strategic messaging, policy, and public relations. Throughout his studies, he has focused on using clear, effective communication to untangle complex problems and advocate for meaningful change. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dylan enjoys longboarding, skiing, sailing, and spending time outdoors. He looks forward to building a career where he can combine his analytical skills with creative strategy to make a tangible impact.

Greening the Ward investigates the hidden systemic barriers preventing Canadian hospitals from adopting sustainable clinical practices. While the healthcare sector contributes massively to national carbon emissions, efforts to implement reusable alternatives are actively blocked by intense medico-legal pressure. This project exposes how tort-based liability fears and corporate manufacturer restrictions force clinicians to practice “defensive medicine,” generating immense plastic and diagnostic waste. Ultimately, this research advocates for no-fault liability reform and the operational adoption of a circular economy, arguing that true patient safety must also prioritize planetary health.
