Understanding the Impact of Part-Time Jobs Among Undergraduate Students’ GPA

Qian Zhang

Biography

My name is Qian Zhang and I am currently a fourth year student at Toronto Metropolitan University studying in the field of Professional Communication with a minor in Public Relations. I use to work three part-time jobs during my undergraduate studies and am now working only two. Juggling these jobs and school has shaped me into the independent, hard working, and determined woman I am today, which has also influenced the topic of my research project. After my undergraduate degree I seek to pursue a role in either the field of communications, public relations, or marketing. Over the years I have developed an array of transferable skills and I hope to use these skills to my fullest potential in my future works.

Research Summary

For my project, I examined the positive and negative impacts of working a part-time job in relation to undergraduate students’ academic performance and GPA. The purpose of this study is to analyze not only the positive and negative impacts of part-time jobs on undergraduate students’ academic performance but also to examine any other uncommon patterns of impact from a part-time job during school in connection to their overall life, such as for example mental health.
