Biography

My name is Eva Oseen, I’m graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University in Professional Communication with a double minor in Politics and News Studies. I’m a journalist, producer and digital content creator with a passion for sharing stories. I’m always looking for new ways to tell stories, shed light on important topics and create engaging and creative content that can be a drive for change. I love travelling, experiencing new cultures and exploring ways to share stories that connect with people and can make a positive change.

Research Summary

This research examines diversity within Canadian newsrooms to determine if it accurately reflects the diversity of its demographic as well as analyze the perspectives from which Canadians get their news. It aims to address biases and representation in Canadian media influenced by Canadian newsrooms and the diversity of journalist reporting. Through analyzing Canada’s two major news outlets CTV News and CBC News, and exploring three of the country’s most diverse cities, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, this research explores the importance of representation in Canadian newsrooms.
