Mary Thompson

A half-body professional portrait of a young woman with wavy blonde hair, fair skin, and a friendly smile. She is wearing a dark teal collared shirt under a black blazer, facing forward, and looking directly into the camera against a stark white background.

I'm a Ryerson University student completing a degree in Professional Communications with a minor in Marketing. I work as a Marketing Manager on the client-side for an HVAC company in Oakville. After I graduate, I would like to continue to enhance my digital marketing skills through certification programs. Outside of school, I enjoy exercising outside and spending quality time with friends, family and my dog Lucy.

Research

This project studies the relationship between Curiosity Quotient (CQ) and New Media. This research in this study helps discover trends between CQ and new media usage patterns, behaviours and attitudes towards technological determinism. The study also provides a comparison between media usage of people with Average CQ scores to those with High-Exceptional CQ scores.

A grayscale, high-contrast image featuring a large, textured human eye with long lashes, centered on a grid of embossed white 3D blocks. The eye's pupil contains a dark, solid heart shape. The blocks are subtly rendered with various common digital symbols such as @, WiFi, cloud, shopping cart, SMS, camera, and a clock. Arching above the eye is the title 'How Curiosity Affects How We Use New Media' in dark gray text with a subtle shadow. Below the eye, the author's name 'Mary Thompson' is displayed in a similar font and color. The overall impression is digital, introspective, and focuses on the intersection of human emotion/curiosity and technology.
