Does studying in a coffee shop have a positive or negative influence on university level student academic performances within the GTA?

This research study is focused on study spaces and the study habits of university students within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and will serve the interests universities seeking to accommodate their students and offer better study spaces, product marketers, students, as well as coffee shops seeking to attract or avoid this demographic. Student academic success is determined by many factors that can be influenced and changed over time as society evolves.

As coffee shops are typically popular locations for students to work, study, and socialize; it will be valuable for coffee shop owners, marketers, and Canadian universities to better understand the various motivations and preferences behind students’ preferred study spaces and study habits. For this study, descriptive research of mixed approaches will be used to collect qualitative and quantitative data.

Universities seeking to accommodate their students and offer better study spaces will be able to use this information to better serve their students and encourage student academic success. Product marketers and coffee shops seeking to attract or avoid this demographic may use this information to tailor their businesses or update their practices. As academic success is determined by many factors that can be influenced and changed over time as society evolves, students will especially benefit from this study as they will gain new tools to facilitate and maximize their learning experiences.
