Details of Project

This research explores the psychological effects of prolonged exposure to Beauty TikTok on 14-22-year-old girls, highlighting how beauty trends impact self-esteem, body image, and mental health. Beauty TikTok often promotes unrealistic beauty standards through curated content and filters, making it difficult for young girls to differentiate between natural beauty and digitally enhanced perfection. Trends such as waist training, facial filters, fillers, the fox eye trend, and baby Botox encourage young girls to alter their appearance, leading to low self-esteem, increased insecurities, and body dysmorphia. Studies show that teens spend an average of 1.5 to 2 hours daily on TikTok, contributing to the pressure to conform to these unattainable ideals. The goal of this research is to raise awareness about the harmful effects of these trends and educate young minds on the long-term psychological implications of Beauty TikTok.
