Details of Project

This project explores the historical evolution and socio-cultural significance of androgynous fashion, focusing on its transformation from a niche rebellion to a mainstream movement. By examining key moments from the 19th century to the present day, this research highlights how fashion has continuously challenged and reshaped gender norms.

Using a combination of historical analysis, case studies, and contemporary data, this study traces the impact of androgynous fashion across different time periods. It investigates how early pioneers like Coco Chanel and Marlene Dietrich laid the groundwork for gender-fluid fashion, how the 1960s and 1970s counterculture movements propelled androgynous styles into the spotlight, and how 21st-century designers and celebrities have cemented its place in high fashion and mainstream retail.
