The Detrimental Impact of Covid-19 Lockdowns on Cyber & Domestic Crime

Bio

My name is Anthony Dos Santos. I am a fourth-year Professional Communications student at Toronto Metropolitan University, pursuing a minor in Criminology. With criminal law being a prominent interest of mine, I wanted to incorporate some way into my research project and discover how certain types of law have changed to the detriments of the Covid-19 pandemic. I am also very interested in sports, health and nutrition.

Research Summary

This study focused on the relationship between Cyber and Domestic crime and the consequences of law-enforced lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although lockdowns were vital in mitigating the spread of the virus, lockdowns have proven to be the main driver for the significant increase in these crimes. Utilizing the Routine Activity Theory as a foundational framework, the research delves into the factors contributing to the increase in criminal activities during the pandemic.
