Biography

My name is Laura Garber and I am a fourth-year professional communication student at Toronto Metropolitan University. My studies have fueled a passion for digital media and digital communication, and I am always exploring the ways in which new and emerging technologies shape how we communicate and express ourselves. I have a deep love for storytelling in all of its forms and I am eager to continue learning and growing as both a communicator and a storyteller.

Research Summary

This research examines the interplay of multimodal elements in short-form videos on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. It explores the role and importance of text, image and sound in creating successful short-form videos and aims to make connections between these elements and TikTok’s explosive growth and popularity.
