Research

Research

With consideration to the damaging effects that negative body image can have, the Types of Exercise and Body Image study aims to uncover if and how certain types of exercise, and how they are presented can affect one’s body image. Using a mixed methods approach, this study asks participants to engage in either appearance-oriented or body-positive online workouts, and document their experiences through surveys and questionnaires. I hope that this study will provide insight about the online fitness industry, how it affects women and girls’ body image, and how we can form healthy relationships between exercise and our bodies.
