A close-up portrait of a young East Asian woman with long, straight dark hair with brown ombre highlights. She is wearing black and gold half-rimmed eyeglasses, subtle eyeliner, and a black high-neck top. Two silver necklaces, one with a small cross and another with a rectangular tag, are visible on her chest. She smiles softly, facing the viewer, against a brightly lit white paneled wall.

Hi! My name is Sabrina Ly and I'm a fourth year student studying Professional Communication and minoring in Public Relations. I have a strong interest in marketing communications and brand reputation. When I'm not working on my assignments and enjoying my time spent in my journalism and communication classes, I also like to read and over-analyzing films after watching them.

Research

This study looks for potential solutions to increase awareness and re-brand Toronto as a desirable destination for culinary tourists. Toronto will be compared to cities in the United States and culinary tourists were interviewed during this process about their experiences in dining in Toronto and overseas and what can be done better to help Canada get out of a travel deficit.

This infographic explores Toronto's culinary tourism potential. It highlights Toronto's strengths in food diversity and quality, the role of culinary tourism in extending tourist stays, and the importance of promoting Canadian chefs. The research question asks how Canada can re-brand itself for gastronomical tourists. It also notes a Canadian travel deficit ($32.3M spent vs. $17.8M received) and expensive flights. Illustrated with sushi, a sandwich, a taco, a maple leaf, and a globe with luggage. A research study by Sabrina Ly.
