Miranda Diez

My name is Miranda Diez, and I am a fourth-year Professional Communication student. I have completed minors in both marketing and communication design. Throughout my undergraduate career I have explored the ways in which my interest in graphic design can be applied to my communications degree.

Research

The objective of this study is to determine the levels of persuasive power attributed to various elements of design utilized in book covers. The study will investigate which of these elements of book cover design play the most significant roles in persuading audiences to pick up or read a book upon first impression.

A reddish-brown book cover with a gold double-line border and a subtle canvas texture. The title 'Design Persuasion' is displayed in large, light text. The subtitle reads 'The Power of Design Elements Used in Book Covers.' Below this, five light-colored icons represent design elements: a human figure for 'Form,' an artist's palette for 'Colour,' a ruler for 'Line,' a star for 'Shape,' and an hourglass-like outline for 'Space.' A paragraph explains the study investigates these elements' roles in persuading audiences to pick up or read a book. The author, Miranda Diez, is credited at the bottom.
