Emiliya Nazari

Hi there! My name is Emiliya Nazari and I am a 23 year old student in my fourth-year at Ryerson University majoring in Professional Communications. I am currently in my last semester of my undergrad and as part of my capstone project, I was inspired to conduct research on a topic that has always interested me.

Research

This research study was conducted using a qualitative approach. Data was collected from ten anonymous parents who answered the research questions listed above. Five of these participants were mothers, and five of them were fathers. These parents were a mix between single parents, divorced/separated parents, and married parents. The reason for this combination of parents was to achieve a balanced research with several perspectives on how gender inequality impacts parenting.

An infographic titled '#BREAKTHEGENDERGAP' with three main sections. The top section shows a woman pushing a stroller and a man working with a baby carrier, accompanied by text stating 'Equal parental leave can close the gender gap, because paternity leave is equally as important' and 'When a child is raised in a gender equal family, the cycle of patriarchy is broken.' The middle section features restroom signs, one for 'Women' with a baby changing symbol and one for 'Men' with a question mark, alongside text about the lack of changing tables in men's washrooms. The bottom section depicts a woman standing on a smaller stack of money and a man on a significantly taller stack, illustrating the text 'Womens earnings drop significantly after having a child, but mens don't.'
