A bold graphic illustration featuring a central white abstract symbol, composed of multiple concentric and undulating lines, evocative of a fingerprint swirl or radiating sound waves. This symbol is set against a bright fuchsia background. The entire composition is framed by a thin white rectangular outline, and complemented by layered, organic wavy shapes in varying darker shades of purple and magenta in the upper left and lower right corners, creating a dynamic and modern aesthetic.

Research

This project investigates the state of the influencer industry and compares its early days and current state to find a resolution for issues that have developed within the industry. 1,014 participants were surveyed using a quantitative online survey and grounded theory study to determine how to address the current shift.

A research poster titled 'The Ever-Shifting Influencer Industry' with purple headings and white text, overlaid with semi-transparent social media-themed graphics like dollar signs, heart icons, and speech bubbles. Sections include a Summary explaining the project's aim to evaluate industry shifts and declining effectiveness, five Research Questions, three Guiding Theories (media dependency, observational learning, self-determination), Methods based on an online quantitative survey, and Key Findings. Key Findings highlight increased consumer distrust due to lack of trustworthiness, misaligned promotions, and undisclosed sponsorships. The Conclusion states that consumers are becoming more discerning, requiring influencers to be more intuitive and transparent.
