Living in a time where everything is online and most of our daily tasks are done through the internet, and especially during this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, people begin to spend their time and efforts within online communities and platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and more for communication, inspiration, and to shop within digital marketplaces. This project will reach a target audience of young adults ages 17-25 using surveys, interviews, and methods learned from these two semesters and achieve the data to understand the effects social media has in creating consumer trends in fashion and used as a marketing tool for companies. The purpose of this project is to explore the correlation between the global reach of social media, and its contribution in the creation of consumer habits and trends. This research could help businesses and entrepreneurs in expanding and marketing their content to a wider audience through understanding the power of social media to attract higher sales or interaction.
